Hello everyone, and welcome to our new subscribers!

I hope everyone had a great New Year holiday. This 29th issue of our free semimonthly email newsletter for Computer IT Education, Training, & Tutorial Resources provides you with the latest Free online IT Training Resources that we have recently discovered and researched. This newsletter is free to anyone subscribing (instructions at bottom, no username/password is needed). To access our member site, however, you do need a user name and password - registering as a member of costs $10 for two months, for more information please see below 'Become a Member of'.

My desire is that these free resources will help you with your computer education and training and are tools to advance your IT career. Our main mission is the training of those less fortunate who are seeking to become computer literate, both technically and from a user's perspective.

In this issue we describe and link to a total of 35 computer, IT and programming learning and tutorial web sites. By means of this email newsletter, you have knowledge of and access to these sites before our web site visitors do. This newsletter is also available to subscribers in HTML format at this special url:

I receive many great comments and positive feedback about this newsletter. Some of you have said you love the sites I give you, but sometimes there are too many. So, to reduce the size and make it more manageable, this newsletter will now be issued twice a month (semimonthly) starting this month in January, 2003.

Programming Language Tutorial Downloads:

Download tutorials that teach you ADA, Assembler, C, C++, Pascal, HTML, Java, JavaScript, Perl, SQL, and Visual Basic. Also has links to Delphi and Fortran tutorials.


Java Programming Language Tutorial:

This free online course introduces the Java programming language to persons who have already been exposed to at least one programming language, Program structure, Input and Output, Simple DataStructures, Compilation and execution of programs. It is given in 11 lectures and 4 assignments.


Basic Course In Special Effects and Game Development In Java:

The first course being offered here is their course teaching you special effects and game programming in the form of Java applets. For every special effect applet, the author reviews how to implement it as a plugin for the Visual Applet Configurator. This course covers the development of simple applet games and net games with net game servers. It also teaches application development, client-server systems and Java's graphics engine, but on a smaller scale.


C++ Language Tutorial:

This tutorial teaches the C++ programming language but assumes that the student has already attained a reasonable proficiency in C programming. It is composed of 12 chapters which should be studied in order since topics are introduced in a logical order and build upon topics introduced in previous chapters.


C Tutorial:

This study guide for C language programming will help you write programs quickly and effectively. For each topic a graphic will help illustrate the main ideas being taught. There are also interactive exercises for each topic.

This site contains several good tutorials on how to program in general and with Python. Instant Hacking gives you an introduction to the art of programming, with examples written in Python. Instant Python shows you how to program in Python if you already know how to program.

Creating Applications with Mozilla:

Mozilla is not just a web browser. It is also a framework for building cross-platform applications using standards such as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), XML languages such as the XML-based User-interface Language (XUL), eXtensible Binding Language (XBL), and Resource Description Framework (RDF). This book explains how applications are created with Mozilla and provides step-by-step information that shows how to create your own programs using Mozilla's powerful cross-platform development framework. It also includes examples of different existing applications to demonstrate the possibilities of Mozilla development.


C Elements of Style:

C Elements of Style was published by M&T books in 1992. An abbreviated copy of the book is presented here. This book covers the C language and is a bit out dated. However it still contains a lot of good advice.


Internet Application Workbook:

This is the textbook for the MIT course "Software Enginering for Internet Applications". The course is intended for juniors and seniors in computer science. We assume that they know how to write a computer program and debug it. We do not assume knowledge of any particular programming languages, standards, or protocols. The most concise statement of the course goal is that "The student finishes knowing how to build by him or herself."
