8) Question of the Month about Technical Training:

Each month Jeff Love will answer a current or important question that we have received about computer and IT training and career development.

February 2007 Question of the Month:

Are any of the problems that AJAX brings to web applications being worked on or being fixed?

Well known Ajax usability issues such as the browser Back Button not working as expected and the inability to bookmark a web page as expected will still need work, but progress is being made on these issues and others.

Other Ajax issues and work being done to fix them are as follows:

Ajax is causing advertising impression counting problems, and this article offers some guidance on how to avoid this issue with Ajax.

Several Ajax Security issues and risks are apparent, and many are being studied and hopefully there will be several Ajax security solutions soon, and here are some security recommendations.

Ajax Latency issues, whether real or imaged, are also an issue that developers are looking at and offering solutions.

Developers are also working to overcome Ajax Accessibility issues the affect sight-impaired or otherwise disabled users.

Technical Ajax issues, such as instantiating the necessary Javascript object, building the request, and using the response are covered in this paper.

I hope this help you.
