Two Nice C++ Programming Guides

Here are two nice C++ Programming Guides: one is a style guide and the other is an overview of the most important feaures of the C++ programming language. These will help you become a better and more effective C++ programmer and application developer.

C++ Programming Style Guide

Exerpt from this guide: "Good style is like touch typing: it may seem counter-productive at first, but the initial effort will pay enormous dividends. After a little while, the elements of good style will be second nature. Good style will help you to debug your programs more easily, and also make them more easily readable by your instructor." From the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Denison University.  (11 pages, 35kb, pdf format)

C++ Overview

This document, from Rice University, is an overview of the C++ programming language for those with little or no experience with it. It can also be used as a reference for more experienced C++ programmers. It assumes you are experienced in programming with some other programming language. It describes several important features of the C++ language that you need to know and presents coding examples, from which you should be able to determine the general rules of writing C++ programs.  (48 pages, 398kb, pdf format)

6) New Computer & IT Training & Tutorial Link & Resource Sites:

These web sites will be added to our IT Links and Resources page at Intelligentedu.com/cat6.html

Over 500 Computer and Programming eBooks and Tutorials

This site, BesteBooksWorld.com, provides links to over 500 Computer, I.T., and Programming eBooks and Tutorials on the web. The topics covered are linked below. To find specifically what you're looking for you will need to search this site. However, their search does not return good results when using more than one keyword, so I recommend using this google search, adding the keywords you need, along with a preceding + sign to narrow the results, if you'd like. Here is an example of this search for 'Linux Installation'.

Categories of eBooks and  Tutorials at BesteBooksWorld:

7) I.T. Sites and Free Downloads Worth Mentioning:

The following programs are totally Free, no popups, no adware, no spyware, and no shareware.

Seeker is a search and replace tool that enables you to search and replace text within files that match your criteria. The program offers an easy to understand interface with basic options that allow you to filter target files by name, size and date. The text replacement is limited to simple one-line words or phrases (not suitable for larger text blocks), but it also supports regular expressions.

Copernic Desktop Search

Copernic Desktop Search allows you to instantly find files, emails, images, multimedia and more, that are located on your PC (not the Internet). It creates an initial index of your hard drive and provides an attractive and easy to use search interface that returns results instantly, as soon as you type in your keyword. It provides image thumbnails for picture matches, integrated preview with keyword highlighting and more. 8) Question of the Month about Technical Training:

Each month Jeff Love will answer a current or important question that we have received about computer and IT training and career development.

June 2008 Question of the Month:

Can you recommend a programming language comparison guide that is easy to read, but still gives in-depth information on the similarities and differences among the various programming languages available to choose from?

Answer:
Yes, here is a very well written one-page document that compares and contrasts many programming languages: Programming Language Comparison, by Jason Voegele. This is one of the best comparisons that I have seen lately. He compares nine languages in the following features or topics:  Object-Orientation, Static / Dynamic Typing, Generic Classes, Inheritance, Feature Renaming, Method Overloading, Operator Overloading, Higher Order Functions, Lexical Closures, Garbage Collection, Uniform Access, Class Variables / Methods, Reflection, Access Control, Design by Contract, Multithreading, Regular Expressions, Pointer Arithmetic, Language Integration, Built-In Security, and Capers Jones Language Level

I hope this helps you.
