This is the February 2009 issue (#85) of our free monthly newsletter for Computer IT Education, Training, & Tutorial Resources providing you with the latest Free online IT Training Resources that we have recently discovered and researched. Colasoft MAC Scanner allows you to scan your network and gather a list of MAC addresses, along with IP address, machine name and manufacturer information (if available). It can automatically detect all subnets according to the IP addresses configured on multiple NICs of a machine. Colasoft MAC Scanner supports multi-threaded scanning and can export the result list to a text file.


Androsa FileProtector

Androsa FileProtector enables you to encrypt and password protect any type of file, including documents, images, videos etc. The program offers a choice of 3 encryption algorithms, AES 256/192/128 bit, TripleDES 192 bit and DES 64 bit and converts the protected file into a .AFP file. Once protected, the file can only be opened with the proper password. Androsa FileProtector integrates with Windows Explorer for convenient access from the right-click menu, and also provides a drag and drop interface to batch encrypt/decrypt multiple files. Other features include password strength indicator, file compression and more.


ClickTray Calendar

ClickTray Calendar is a multi-functional calendar, address, and reminder program that runs in the system tray. Flookey is a media player that helps you to create meaningful playlists and navigate your personal media library. The program analyzes your music files and listening habits and instantly suggests similar songs from your collection in form of an automatically generated playlist. To get started with Flookey, you need to tell the program where your music folders are (or import your iTunes library), let it analyze the content, and then simply select the song(s) you want to hear. The program will learn from your choices and constantly improve its recommendations. You can also set bookmarks, boost selection by keyword, export playlists to .m3u format and more.


Schmap Player

Schmap Player is a dynamic travel guide that allows you to download interactive city maps that contain virtual tours with photos, city search, trip planning features and more. You can also print your own map views and choose which points of interest to include in the printout. You can browse the maps by region or neighborhood and also review additional information, including historical data, reviews, attractions, events and other topics. The current inventory of available maps includes major metropolitan areas within the US and Europe.



VideoCacheView enables you to extract Flash video files (.flv) from your browser cache and save them to a folder of your choice. The program supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome. It automatically scans the cache of all supported browsers every time you run it.
